Contest - Diabetes in the Chicago Deaf Community
This is an internet contest of the Deaf Access Program, as part of the "Win With Good Health" and "I Can Take Charge of My Life" programs.  This contest runs from January 20, 2011, to June 30, 2011.

We are seeing many more people with sugar diabetes in Deaf Access.

Sugar diabetes can cause problems such as:
- heart problems, like heart attacks.
- kidney damage, including kidney failure.
- eye damage, including blindness.
- damage to the arteries which carry blood

You should check with your doctor to see if you might have sugar diabetes if you have any of these:
- too much urine, or often wake up to urinate at night.
- very thirsty all the time.
- your eyesight changes suddenly.
- very tired.
- infections that don't get better, such as skin infections.

If you have any of these problems, see your doctor as soon as possible.
